The Prevx CSI Initiative

As most of you who read our blog must know by now we've launched Prevx CSI which is our free malware scanner that leverages our community database. The goal of the project was to build a scanner that is practically “Click and Go” and we think it’s pretty much there. This has numerous advantages, including size - its only 1.5MB - and there is no need for signature downloads. That being said, we've been thinking of some cool ways to get the scanner spread all over the web, one of the ways I’ll mention here is that we can offer the scanner as it is to anyone who has some decent web traffic and make them a customized version of it. Thus, you can have the scanner with your own graphics, and branding and put it on your site. We'll also do a revenue share on users that convert to paying Prevx 2.0 users referred to us, from your site.

Failing that we can give you a unique version like the one on the Prevx site, but with tracking built in so all users that convert to paying Prevx2.0 will earn you some money.

We’re working away on some more features inside the CSI Free version that will make it even better – if you guys have any suggestions please let us know and we’ll certainly take them on board!

You can download Prevx CSI here.

  2. I've heard a few reports of CSI missing a good deal of gunk on heavily infected machines.

Does CSI check for user mode rootkits? How about kernel mode ones?
