OSSPROXY.EXE has been seen to perform the following behavior:
- Adds products to the system registry
- Adds a Registry Key (RUNONCE) to auto start Programs on system start up
- Can communicate with other computer systems using HTTP protocols
- Executes a Process
- Creates a TCP port which listens and is available for communication initiated by other computers
- Adds a Registry Key (RUN) to auto start Programs on system start up
- Executes Processes stored in Temporary Folders
- This process creates other processes on disk
- Looks at the contents of the autoexec.bat file
- Reads email address and phone book details
- Uses DNS to retrieve the IP address for web sites
- Uses reverse DNS to retrieve the host names on IP addresses
- Visits web sites on your PC without you knowing
- This Process Deletes Other Processes From Disk
- Registers a Dynamic Link Library File
- The process hooks code into all running processes which could allow it to take control of the system or record keyboard input, mouse activity and screen contents
- Modifies Windows Initialization And System Settings Used On Start up
- The Process is polymorphic and can change its structure
- This Process can access Web Mail Servers
- Registers a Windows APPINIT DLL To be loaded in all processes
- Changes the Internet Explorer Search Page
- Adds a Winlogon Notification DLL to automatically load on system start up
- Makes outbound connections to other computers using NETBIOSOUT protocols
